It's been a long time coming, and now I'm back with a new blog: PowerMaxcer. What's it about? IBM Power Systems news, along with PureSystems, along with my voice, me, Chris Maxcer. Hence the jammed together PowerMaxcer name. Took me three days to come up with it, so stop laughing.
Seriously now, I'm also tweeting from @PowerMaxcer, too, revving the engines right now, so to speak, in order to bust loose in 2013 -- I'm looking forward to a great IBM Power Systems and PureSystems year, actually. IBM has been making progress in developing geographies with both Power and Pure-based systems, and the lackluster economy may end up helping IBM Power Systems -- while buying cheap x86-based servers now and paying for it later won't go away anytime soon, at least some existing Power customers are realizing the benefits of upgrading their aging operating systems to the latest versions of IBM i and AIX . . . and saving through system consolidation, lower maintenance fees, and better energy efficiency.
And if IBM can reinvigorate its Business Partner network to bring good old-fashioned smarter computing applications to AIX, IBM i, and PowerLinux -- the lowercase s and c in smarter computing was intentional, you know -- then maybe, just maybe, Power Systems can do more than just step on HP and Oracle to grab the low-hanging fruit.
So yeah, I didn't even mean to, but this is the sort of thing I'll be covering in PowerMaxcer.
P.S. If you've got a good Power or Pure story, reach out! My email address is in the bio, and I'm always looking for cool Power news to share.
